EVERYDAY KINDNESS

  • Do no harm
  • Greet everyone you meet with a smile…it’s contagious!
  • Say “Please” and “Thank you” every time
  • Listen carefully without interrupting
  • Pause before you speak…and choose kind words
  • Ask: “How can I help?”
  • Always keep your word
  • Be generous and share
  • Be kind to all creatures and respect their environments
  • There is always something to be grateful for…live in gratitude!

IN THE COMMUNITY

  • Hold a door open for someone
  • Give a friendly wave to people passing by in cars and buses
  • Lend an elderly person a hand
  • Return shopping carts to the front of the store
  • Donate books you have already read to a local library
  • Send out a kind email or a card to let someone know you are thinking of them
  • Bake cookies for a neighbor
  • Offer to walk a neighbor’s dog
  • Wheel out your neighbor’s trash and recycling cans
  • Pick up litter wherever you see it and dispose of it properly
  • Say something nice about someone…just because you can 🙂
  • Share a fun riddle or joke to cheer someone up
  • Write a thank-you note to someone who has done something nice for you
  • Call or visit a sick friend
  • Make a handmade get-well card for someone
  • Tape a thank-you note to the front of your mailbox for your postal carrier

AT HOME

  • Fold your own laundry
  • Always make your bed
  • Help clean up, without being asked
  • Turn the water off while brushing your teeth
  • Turn off lights when leaving a room
  • Help by setting the table for a meal
  • Let your brother or sister choose which game they would like to play with you
  • Go through your toys and donate the ones you no longer play with
  • Have a lemonade stand and donate the profits to a local animal shelter
  • Keep a kindness journal about the ways you were kind during the day – write in it each night before you go to bed

AT SCHOOL

  • Welcome new students to your school and show them around
  • Invite someone new into your circle of friends
  • Help keep your classroom clean and tidy
  • Make peace with someone who has wronged you
  • Make amends with someone you have wronged
  • Help out when someone’s shoe is untied or their backpack zipper is open
  • Say “hello” to a classmate you don’t usually talk to
  • Sit next to someone you don’t normally eat lunch with
  • Thank your teacher for helping you learn
  • Bring a flower to your teacher
  • Tell the principal how great your teacher is
  • Leave a cheerful note on a classmate’s desk
  • Make a thank-you card for the bus driver
  • Dry off the swings and slides on the playground after it rains
